Through employee volunteerism and the establishment of its CSI team, Sandbox plans to initiate socio-economic development programmes that are aimed at alleviating poverty, improving the level of education and promoting self-sufficiency and sustainability within our communities.
It is with this spirit, the company held its first official community upliftment programme. Employee’s participated by bring in their unwanted winter and summer clothing as a way of ushering in the new season. The company had its Spring Day celebration’s on the 4th of September.
The response we received was amazing, Umnyezane Primary School in Benoni benefited from the toys and clothes collected. The school has 995 learners and also provides support to the learners and their families and the community as a whole.
Some of the learners are orphaned and are raised by their older siblings. This school provides support by giving the learners food parcel to take home. They recently identified more than a hundred students who didn’t have school shoes and have embarked on a fundraising drive to provide shoes to these children.
Sandbox is committed to a long-term partnership with the Umnyezane Primary School through its Sandbox Projects subsidary, this will include mentoring and financial assistance. It was identified that the school need urgently requires books and furniture for their library and assistance to upgrade the improvement of their infrastructure and facilities.
Adele Mudau, the CSI Consultant at Sandbox and Sharon Oeschger, made their way out to Benoni to deliver the clothing collected from the employees. The company also provided the school with groceries so the children could receive an additional meal from the one the school currently provide.
Sandbox is always on the lookout for worthy causes needing support, we encourage any organization to contact our CSI Consultant, Mrs Adele Mudau on 011 450 3609 to partner Sandbox in these effots.
