Sandbox Projects, an ICT consulting company based in Bedforview, recently introduced a formal CSI function to their structure.
Through employee volunteerism and the establishment of its CSI team, Sandbox plans to initiate socio-economic development programmes that are aimed at alleviating poverty, improving the level of education and promoting self-sufficiency and sustainability within our communities.
It is with this spirit, that that the company held its first official community upliftment. To encourage employee participation, all staff were requested to bring in their winter clothing and old summer clothing as a way of ushering in the new season. The company had its Spring Day celebration’s on the 4th of September, where all employees came together for Boerewors rolls and cocktails on the balcony.
The response we received from the staff was amazing, we collected toys and clothes for our chosen causes. The Salvation Army – Strathyre Girls Home in Kensington was one of the 2 causes chosen. This organization houses about 60 girls who have either been abandoned, abused or orphaned in the area.
These girls are amazing and unique individuals, in spite of their circumstances they remain positive. One only needs to walk through the corridors of the girls home to get a feel of the strength and unity they have. Sandbox Projects is committed to a long-term partnership with the Strathyre Girl’s Home, this will include mentoring and financial assistance amongst other things.
The home received bags of clothing, shoes and toys. Most of the girl have fluffy toys neatly placed on their beds, the bag of toys was no doubt a highlight for the girls.
Sandbox Projects is always on the lookout for worthy causes needing support, we encourage any organization to contact our CSI Consultant, Mrs Adele Mudau on 011 450 3609.
